KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOR OF HOUSEHOLD WIVES IN USING PALM FRYING OILS IN SUB DISTRICT OF INDRALAYA INDAH

Abstract


Background : Frying oils is one of the nine basic needs in Indonesia. The lack knowledge of household wife in using frying oils can cause damage. In addition, frying oils is used multiple times (more than 4 times) will be oxidized (air reactions). It can caused irritations of digestion, diarrhea and cancer.

Method : The method of this research is survey-descriptive with cross-sectional design. The aim of this research is to determine of using palm frying oil in correct and right way for household wives and family health in sub district of Indralaya Indah. This research uses Questionnaire for collecting primary data’s.

Result : The results of this research indicated that the most knowledge of household wives is adequate knowledge (60,0%), good attitude (95,3%) and good behavior (62,4%) with characteristics > 40 years old, graduated from senior high school, unworking, buy palm frying oil in supermarkets and shops and get informations about palm frying oil packages from reference groups and electronics mass media.

Conclusion : The conclusion of this research is using palm frying oil in correct and right way didn’t do by all of household wives. Suggestions of this research are not only doing intensive illuminations for reference groups but also producers are expected to provide informations (recommendations how to use palm frying oil) more complete and detailed in label product.
